August Blog Hop!

Hi!  Thanks for stopping by! Last week I submitted a card for a Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge for the first time.  This week, another first, participating in the August Blog Hop.  The inspiration for the Blog Hop is this photo:

And here's what I was inspired to create:

Supplies Used:
Paper: Raspberry Fizz and Hawaiian Shores by Papertrey Ink (PTI), Confetti White by Stampin' Up, Hello Luscious patterned paper by Basic Grey
Ink: Summer Sunrise by PTI, Palette Hybrid in Burnt Umber
Stamps: Sending You and Flower Fusion #2 by PTI
Accessories: Raspberry Fizz satin ribbon by PTI, Stickles Glitter Glue

I was inspired by the pink flowers in the photo, plus the pattern inside the suitcase lid.  I also liked the straight lines of the books, so I mimicked that with the straight lines of the patterned paper.  The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Hello Luscious collection- love, love, love that paper- the colors, the patterns, yum!  It's hard to see in the photo, but there's a little bit of glitter between the patterned paper to give the card a little bit of sparkle and some more texture.  There's also glitter in the center of the flowers.  Love those little yellow flowers!

This is one of my favorite layouts from Clean and Simple Stamping. It's a great way to use up the patterned paper I tend to hoard.  Yes.  I hoard patterned paper.  I think I need to make more cards using this layout, or there may soon be a show on TLC or Discovery Channel about me and my paper "collection".  Anyone else a hoarder?  What do you tend to hang to and never want to use?

As always, thanks for visiting and enjoy your next stops on the Papertrey Blog Hop!

Make it Monday Challenge #29

This week's Papertrey Ink Challenge is to color outside the lines using Copic Markers.  I don't have any Copic's, so I substituted my Prismacolor colored pencils instead.  The colors were blended together using odorless mineral spirits.

Supplies used:
Paper: Berry Sorbet, Raspberry Fizz, Dotty Biscotti Patterned Paper by Papertrey Ink, White by Stampin' Up
Ink: Papertrey Ink Raspberry Fizz, Noir Black Palette Hybrid
Stamps: Simple Valentine by Papertrey Ink
Accessories: Prismacolor colored pencils, Rick Rack die by Papertrey Ink

Now that I'm posting on here again, I need to brush up on my photography skills so the cards look better.  Hmmm, come November, I'll have my own personal graphic designer/photographer on call 24-7, I think I'll just turn over the photos to him.  I like that idea better.  :)

Thanks for visiting, have a great day!

Papertrey Ink Make it Monday #28

So...it's been a while since I've done anything crafty and an even longer while since I last posted on this blog.  But, it's time.  Time to get back into the swing of things, dust off my craft desk and dust off that tiny creative part of my brain.  I made this little card for Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday Challenge.  This is the first time I'm actually posting a card for a challenge.  I've lurked, done the challenges in secret, but I'm taking the plunge and posting.  The layout for this card also corresponds with Clean and Simple Stamping FTL153.  I added a couple more layers than the sketch and moved the sentiment, but their layout served as the inspiration for this card.

Supplies used:
Paper: Kraft and Confetti White by Stampin' Up, Royal Velvet and Simply Chartreuse by Papertrey Ink
Ink: Concord Crush and Kiwi Kiss by Stampin' Up
Stamps: Fruit Fusion Grapes by Papertrey Ink
Accessories: purple glitter by Martha Stewart Crafts, Fruit Fusion Grapes die by Papertrey Ink, Twine (source unknown)
